First Meeting

The first meeting of the season was held at the Bangor Public Library at 6pm. President Carol welcomed everyone back and introduced some new members. Carol had set up the room with the chairs in a circle just to mix thing up. It was a welcomed change.
The speaker for the meeting was Liz Grandmaison talking about the Bangor Arts Collaborative. As a member it would entitle you to be in the 4 art walks and other events that the BAC sponsors, Membership is $100 for an individual and $150 for a group. It would be to the advantage of the Bangor Arts Society to join so that all their members would be members of the BAC. The Art walks have a fee of $35  for non-members to take part in the Art Walk. It is $25.00 for members. This art walk has a sign-up deadline of Oct.15th for the November 19th Art Walk..(www.BangorArts.org)
The 2nd part of the meeting was devoted to "My Summer Self" and introductions of the members. This part of the meeting was informative and the art work that members brought in was just fascinating.I would be posting pics however I had a senior moment and forgot my camera:(
Paint Bangor Day was the next topic. ( I did post pics on an earlier post) A discussion ensued as to how we could make this better.  Look for Committees to streamline the process for the Christmas Auction...so get volunteering. BAS needs your help. (www.Bangorartsociety.com)

Note worthy: The Discovery Museum is having an auction of their bins on Nov. 6th.  President Carol had her Bin at the meeting and it was so wonderfully creative and colorful. Great job Carol.
There are quite a few Bangor Art Society members that are participating in this event.

And the Winner is...

Paint Bangor Day 2010 was a successful event that has come and gone. If you didn't get down to the Auction you lost out. The art was exceptional and the prices were wonderful.
A multitude of artist canvased Bangor and set up their easels and painted our fair city. The art work turned in on Saturday was varied and done in a multitude of mediums. Some vibrant with color and some soft as a whisper.
All the paintings were auctioned off on Saturday night.   Here are a few pictures during "Paint Bangor Day".
